Generation history
How names are made
Three kinds of name, ranked together by how well each reads, how long it is and how familiar the pattern is. Real words keeps only dictionary words, and Words caps how many words a name may use.
Invented words
Endings that read as a brand (orbitly, orbista), blends with your word's relatives (cobrew from coffee and brew), a dropped vowel (ledgr), a doubled letter (digg).
Real words side by side
Your word with a companion (orbithub, coffeelab), with one of its relatives (coffeeroast), or two relatives together (lunarlab), for when every compound of the word itself is taken.
A word on its own
Satellite, planet, lunar for orbit: the relatives themselves, from a naming thesaurus curated for this rather than a dictionary's list of synonyms.
Which extensions are checked
Names are checked against the 50 most popular extensions, and your favourites if you are signed in, as they are generated. Generation keeps going until a page of them is free under the extension you picked. The strip above the results counts what is free under each, and "Generate more" reaches further from your word.
Questions
How does the generator work?
It splits your word into the words it is made of, looks each up in a naming thesaurus, and builds names three ways: invented words (endings, blends, dropped vowels), real words side by side, and the relatives on their own. Everything is ranked by how well it reads, how long it is and how familiar the pattern is, and anything that does not read is dropped.
Does it use AI?
No. Generation is deterministic and runs in milliseconds, so the same word always gives the same list and nothing you type is sent to a model.
Do I see availability?
Yes, and before the names appear: each one is checked against the 50 most popular TLDs and your favourites as it is generated, and generation keeps going until a page of names is free under the extension you chose. Any card opens the full search for that name.
What do Real words and Words do?
Real words keeps only names made of dictionary words: your word's relatives and compounds of them, with no invented endings or blends. Words caps how many words a name may be made of. One gives orbitly or satellite, two gives orbithub, three reaches myorbithub.
Can I constrain the output further?
The bar also limits length, requires a prefix, suffix or substring, and turns synonym and antonym blending on or off. Numbers and Hyphens work the other way round: names are letters only until you turn one on, and then orbit24 and orbit-hub join the run.
Do I need an account?
No. An account adds bookmarks and history.
